Your signature on the trial entry form indicated that you were familiar with the AKC Rally Regulations.  If you don’t already have it, you may get a copy from the AKC at www.akc.org.

I have the Rally Regulations booklet in case you need to refer to it before or after your time in the ring.

Course walk-throughs are limited to ten minutes per class.

Please make sure you have checked in for any and all classes entered.  Wear your armband on your left arm.

Dogs must wear only one collar with no tags; no prong or electric collars.

Rally values teamwork between dog and handler.

You may talk to and praise your dog – but please, no excessively loud, harsh commands or intimidating signals.

When a change of pace is required, dog and handler must either speed up or slow down noticeably, or walk briskly for the “normal” pace.

In Novice and Intermediate, maintain a LOOSE LEAD so I can see your dog work!  For anyone:  No leash pops or any physical corrections at any time while in the ring.

Exercises may NOT be retried in Choice or Master.  In other classes, if you perform an exercise incorrectly (IP, a 10-point deduction), one reapproach and retry of the entire exercise is permitted (a 3-point deduction).  It is not necessary to announce a retry.

If you lose your way on the course, take time to get your bearings before going on.  Sorry, but no one may tell you where to go next.  Once you have started another exercise, you cannot go back to perform one you have missed.  A missed exercise = NQ.

Reattach the leash BEFORE you leave the ring!  Only in Excellent is there a formal sit-stay exercise at the end of which I will say “Exercise finished.”  In Choice, Master and Advanced, once you have completed the course, just get your leash, put it on the dog, then exit.
